Service Description
Spend the day learning to sketch and watercolour inspired by seasonal blooms. Take some time out to enjoy nature through sketching. Using pencils and fine-liner pens we will create expressive sketches of plants and flowers and learn techniques that you can use to engage with nature wherever you are. The course is more about the simple enjoyment of observing than having to produce a masterpiece and there is no pressure to perfom. In the afternoon (optional) we will really bring the sketches to life, adding watercolour. Weather permitting, we will take advantage of the many lovely plants at Oak Barn and sketch outside. All materials will be provided except a sketchbook. Please bring a hardback sketchbook. If you are staying for the afternoon, it should have a minimum paperweight of 160gsm. Morning only or full day option: Morning only – 10am-1pm: pencil and fine liner drawing Full day extension – 1:30-3:30pm: including watercolour (please note, the additional afternoon workshop is only for morning attendees) Subjects covered: Looking at flower shapes and forms Looking at capturing the character of plants Using expressive lines to make sketches full of life Adding bright, colourful watercolour washes to the drawings to really bring them to life (full day only, optional) Who is the course for? Anyone welcome, beginners included! We will hopefully be sketching outside for part of the day so consider bringing a sun hat. If you find standing uncomfortable, you are welcome to continue drawing in the studio instead. By the end of the session, you will have: Spend some time switching off from daily life through sketching Learnt some useful techniques for making quick flower sketches Learnt about materials And taken a bit of time to enjoy nature The course day includes: Complimentary refreshments on arrival Step-by-step guidance All materials will be provided except a sketchbook. Tutor: Anna Ribo is a nature journaling teacher and planting designer. For her, drawing and planting are closely related and she uses drawing to think creatively when doing planting schemes and as a way to enjoy nature. She very much likes to share her skills, whether teaching nature drawing and journaling or hand drawing to garden designers. Her workshops are down to earth and accessible for beginners. Venue: Our very own studio space is set within the grounds of Old Barn Garden Centre, Dial Post, South of Horsham. Our dedicated space for courses, is a light airy and spacious place

Cancellation Policy
THE COURSE 1.1. Your place on the course is not confirmed and we have no obligation to you until full payment is received. 1.2. Most course fees include the use of all materials needed on the course, except sketch books. If the fee does not include all or some of the materials it will be stated on our website under workshop or course description. 1.3. You must attend on a punctual basis unless prevented by events which are beyond your reasonable control. We are unable to delay start times for late arrivals, course begin at the time stated. 1.4. We do not accept Adult Workshop bookings from anyone under 18 years of age unless otherwise stated 1.5. We are entitled to change the timing and/or content of any course and to substitute any teacher at any time. 1.6. We do not supply lunch. You may bring a packed lunch or go out. _______________________________________________________________________________ 2. YOUR CONDUCT 2.1. Disruptive behaviour: Abusive or inappropriate behaviour or language, threatening or disruptive behaviour towards staff or other students will result in you being removed from the workshop. No credit or debit card information will be held. 3.2. We will not sell your data to any third parties. _______________________________________________________________________________ 4. CANCELLATION POLICY 2025 4.1. In the event that you are unable to attend a booking please get in touch to discuss the issue. Bookings are non-refundable unless we can fill your space. You will not be entitled to a refund nor will we offer a transfer of your booking or provide a credit note unless the space is filled. 4.2. Friends and family may attend in your place for any course. Please provide us with the names and contact details of anyone attending in your place. 4.3. Courses bought as gifts are subject to the same cancellation policy. 4.4. All courses and workshops have a minimum attendance level and may be cancelled if too few bookings are received. 4.5. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone workshops and courses at any time. 4.6. If we cancel a workshop or a course the cost of your place will be refunded. We are not liable for any costs related to the booking.
